For the first time, this edition presents Hartman von Aue’s Ereck in a textual edition that closely follows the manuscript, offering new access to this first Arthurian romance in the German language. Instead of reconstructing the author’s 12^th century text from the legacy of the Ambraser manuscript, it only cautiously normalizes and corrects a reproduction of all original sources with philological commentary and a New High German translation.
