The notion of the “implicit” exists in all systems of philosophy. The term invariably refers to an effort to make explicit a form of unperceived, “embedded” knowledge as a way to fathom man’s deep structure. Wolfram Hogrebe examines the anthropological relevance of “logomantic” [divinational] precursors of philosophy and poetry along with the idea of the “implicit citizen” and the nature of implicit musical structures.
