Prof. Dr. rer. medic. Oliver Lazar initially studied human medicine up to the first state examination at the University of Essen and subsequently studied computer science at the Technical University of Dortmund, completing his degree as a graduate computer scientist (Diplom-Informatiker) in 2005. In 2008, he earned his doctorate as a Doctor of Natural Sciences in Medicine with his dissertation on the topic "Effects on the Sympathetic Nervous System of Combination Therapies in the Treatment of Patients with Hypertension" at the Department of Nephrology of the University Hospital Essen. He headed the IT department of the general public hospital in Zell am See, Austria, and, as a scientist and project leader at the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems (IMS) in Duisburg, gained profound experience in applied research through various BMBF-funded research projects. Since 2012, he has been a Professor of Computer Science at the FOM University of Applied Sciences at the Düsseldorf campus.
Following the tragic accidental death of a classmate of his then 13-year-old daughter in 2017, he underwent a complete transformation of his life, accompanied by profound personal spiritual experiences that opened the door for him to a much larger world. As a result, he began to view and understand the world holistically, entirely detached from established worldviews. With the EREAMS study, he conducted the largest empirical study, involving 500 international participants, on evidence-based after-death communications. He has reported on the results of this study, on his personal spiritual awakening experience, and on a critical examination and questioning of the materialist worldview with regard to abiogenesis and evolution in numerous interviews and lectures.
