Wolfgang Höhl was born and grew up in Vienna, Austria. He worked as an architect in Vienna, London and Hamburg. Today he is an Assistant Professor for 3D Computer Graphics and xR-Technologies in Munich, Germany. He earned his doctorate at Leibniz Universität Hannover. He is a degreed engineer in architecture at Vienna University of Technology.
During his studies he worked with Roland Goeschl and Ingeborg Pluhar. VALIE EXPORT kindly supported the work on his doctoral thesis. Often he had face-to-face contact with Friedrich Achleitner and Peter Weibel.
His work is mainly influenced by the works of the of the „Wiener Kreis“ (Vienna Circle) and the „Wiener Gruppe“. The center of his work lies in the engagement with moment, space, light, colour, point of view and spatial projection. Today he is working with different media and techniques (3D computer graphics, linocut, gouache, pencil sketches, digital and analogue photography).
