PAINTING DESCRIPTION Agnieszka Wielewska‘s painting focuses on light: both natural and artificial. The light is consi- dered in an affirmative way, sanctifying the moment of everyday life. Light is close to poetry that abstracts objects and space from their obviousness. The works are looking for intimate silence. She refers to the painting of Edward Hopper but also the Danish artist Vilhelm Hammershoi. Cities of the north with a specific raw, spot light (far from the warm and scattered light of the south) are in- spiration for her. The oil paintings are based on the horizontal direction, extending the composition, referring to Le Corbusier‘s horizontal lines, which is best for human eyesight.
