Beschreibung

I started my career by painting the beauty I thought only I could see, and shared it with others. Seeing the joy that my work brought to people, I realized that I could connect with folks on a different level and possibly bring about a positive change. As I get older, I have become acutely aware of the ills that continue to befall humanity. My art has been a metaphorical reflection to date. In the “Storm” series, I explore the violent passion of a storm, the collision of opposing air systems wreaking uncontrollable havoc with a peaceful environment. I want to calm the storm. In my progression to spread positivity, there is literally a silver lining in the clouds of many of the storm paintings. Soaring to new heights in a hot air balloon led to my fascination of painting from a bird’s eye view in the “Elevation”series. Cultures across the span of history have gravitated to the moun- tains for peace and clarity. Imposing abstraction to recognizable scenes creates space for the viewer to bring their own experiences to my work. Freud said, “Dreams are the royal road to the subconscious.” It seems that my road paintings tend to tap into the viewers subconscious as well; the suggestion of a journey resonates, and we see the path before us with all its possibilities. I temper the outcome with positive messages subliminally throughout each piece. Future work will continue on a path of positivity to raise the collective consciousness of our so- ciety. “Shattered” will be a video/performance art project, and hard pieces, showing the com- placency in human nature and shattering its negativity. My goal is to strike and emotional cord with the viewer, creating empathy, motivating change, and improving our treatment of people and our environment.
