Beschreibung

This book explores Michel Foucault’s work on power and suggests analytical tools and strategies for empirical research. It follows Foucault’s original and groundbreaking analytics of power across his books, essays and lectures and situates it within the empirical and historical inquiries from which it emerged. The book is written primarily for researchers and advanced readers who want to work carefully with Foucauldian power analysis.

The book is divided into two parts. Part I presents Foucault’s major analyses of power. It examines how different forms of power emerge, overlap, combine and change across historical settings. Part II turns to the analytical commitments and research strategies that arise from this work. The aim is not to provide a fixed method, but to clarify how Foucault’s work can inform empirical studies. By combining theoretical depth with methodological precision, the book offers both an introduction to Foucault’s analysis of power and a practical guide to power analysis in the spirit of Foucault.
