Beschreibung

This volume brings together leading scholars in philosophy of mind, cognitive science, animal studies, and artificial intelligence to explore how recent developments in embodied and enactive approaches to cognition are reshaping our understanding of minds both natural and artificial. Challenging traditional cognitivist and anthropocentric assumptions, the contributors examine the continuities and differences between human, nonhuman animal, and artificial forms of cognition, consciousness, and agency. Collectively, the chapters argue that questions about mind cannot be fully understood through exclusively human-centered frameworks and that insights from animal cognition and embodiment are increasingly important for contemporary debates about artificial intelligence. The volume offers an interdisciplinary contribution to ongoing discussions about the future of cognition, consciousness, and intelligent systems.

Zdravko Radman is a former Senior Research Fellow (Institute of Philosophy, Zagreb) and a full professor of philosophy. His recent publications include: Before Consciousness: In Search of the Fundamentals of Mind, (2017); The Hand, an Organ of the Mind: What the Manual Tells the Mental, (2013); Knowing without Thinking: Mind, Action, Cognition, and the Phenomenon of the Background, (2012).
