Beschreibung

INTRODUCTION: Plastic waste as a source of threat to ecosystems, health conditions, and economic well-being in different corners of the world has become one of the most topical environmental issues of the 21st century. The global production of plastics has surpassed hundred millions of tonnes of plastics being produced every year either being dumped in the landfill or set on fire in incinerators or the environment. To overcome the current plastic crisis it is time of action to shift into design and to move beyond the linear take-make-dispose model to the regenerative, circular economy involving resource-efficient, low-waste and value-recycling.

SCOPE: The proposed book will be an edited volume that gives the comprehensive, multidisciplinary view on how plastic waste can be used as a resource rather than a burden to the environment. The book covers the entire range of the problem according to the latest negotiating session of the "Global Plastic Treaty" known as (INC-5.2)held in Geneva from August 5-14 2025. The aims of this treaty is to End the Plastic Pollution by 2040, by considering the key issues such as:reducing plastic pollution, banning the harmful chemicals, and phasing out the single-use plastics. This edited volume book puts the plastic waste challenge well within the frame of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Global Plastics Treaty Goals with the aim of responsible consumption and production, climate action, sustainable industry, and healthy communities. This book proposal is a very serious "WAKE-UP CALL" to the global plastic crises and how to solve it.
