Beschreibung

This textbook, the first to originate from the Caribbean context, examines human resource management (HRM) against the background of the unique cultural, economic, and social factors that shape HRM practices in the region. Beyond the regional business environment, it addresses the impact of globalization on organizations and the strategic value of HRM. The book underscores that human capital is the main differentiator for organization competitiveness.

The book is divided into five sections covering 1) strategic HRM in a globalized business world, 2) the core HRM functions critical for organizational success, 3) key elements that contribute to a high-performance workplace, such as employee engagement, utility of teams and performance evaluation systems, 4) fostering employee-management relations and improving workplace productivity, and 5) contemporary challenges for HRM, such as DEI, digital HRM and outsourcing/offshoring.

Featuring cases from indigenous Caribbean companies, this textbook is an invaluable resource for students, HRM practitioners, and/or professionals, managers and entrepreneurs, especially those operating within the region, who are seeking to enhance organizational effectiveness and competitiveness.
