Beschreibung

This book presents the basic theoretical position of supporters of deliberative democracy not only as a theoretical model but also as a political practice, by examining the perspectives of political scientists and sociologists and the contributions of prominent authors such as Jürgen Habermas, John Rawls, and later advocates of deliberative democracy such as James Bohman and Iris Marion Young. This volume focuses on questions concerning the compatibility and relationship of deliberative democracy with fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as with liberalism. It also explores the relationship between deliberative democracy and consensual democracy as alternative models in practice, including their relative competitiveness, while engaging with the most significant criticisms of deliberative democracy theory, and it contributes to the ongoing debate by exploring the future of deliberative democracy, both as a theoretical model and a political practice, in the era of artificial intelligence.

Aleksandar Jovanoski is a Full Professor at St. Clement of Ohrid University of Bitola, North Macedonia. His research focuses on sociology of law, sociology of politics and sociology of deviance.
