This book provides the understandings on the basic of power systems with the help of theory and practice by PowerFactory.

The core topics of this book are three-phase systems, transmission lines, control of power systems, modeling, protection, and transient and steady-state analysis for electrical and energy engineering graduate and undergraduate students. Furthermore, recently, new teaching methods have focused on problem-based learning by using existing software. In this regard, the PowerFactory, as a power system simulation software, could be used to enhance the understanding of readers to practice the theory. Consequently, the main purpose of this book is to first present the theory and fundamentals of power systems, then, by having a comprehensive tutorial on PowerFactory as well as practices, transform the theories to the practice. This book starts with an understanding of single and three-phase power systems, as well as basic theories. Then, different components will be modeled, and different issues like control and protection of power systems will be covered. Lastly, in each chapter, the PoweFactory will be used to practice, model, and analyze the thoeries and understanding of these issues for various power systems.
