Beschreibung

This open access book stems from recent developments in Europe that prompted the European Commission to fund the COST Action TU1405 GABI (Geothermal Applications in Buildings and Infrastructures), fostering networking and knowledge exchange among experts in energy geostructures. This initiative paved the way for drafting European level recommendations for their design and construction. The resulting document has been prepared by the European Large Geotechnical Institute Platform (ELGIP) and its Energy Geostructures Working Group, in collaboration with the COST Action CA21156 FOLIAGE (FOstering Large scale ImplementAtion of energy GEostructures).

These recommendations present best practices and the current state of the art in the design, construction and monitoring of energy geostructures. Their goal is to offer a practical and accessible guide for public and private stakeholders, professionals in construction and geotechnics and anyone interested in this technology. The book provides an integrated and coherent framework that supports all stages of the design process—from initial studies, conceptual modelling and site investigations to project development, monitoring, long term modelling and the evaluation of environmental impacts.
