Beschreibung

“This book offers a timely exploration of how the economic structures and political institutions governing our innovation systems are being reconfigured with the rise of artificial intelligence. New conceptual ideas and illustrative case letters in Johannessen’s work provide a critical lens on the innovation drivers and perils of the AI economy beyond neoliberalism.”–Endrit Kromidha, Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, University of Birmingham, UK

Artificial intelligence is rendering some workers’ skills obsolete and threatening the continued economic viability of some businesses. But at the same time, it is fuelling demand for new kinds of skills and creating new kinds of businesses. AI is now the key driver of the innovation engine, bringing about economic changes to business and across society. This book explores the influences guiding the development and application of AI and what that means for the future of innovation. Topics covered include the influences determining AI and innovation policy, national positioning and policy related to AI development and the role of politics in AI and broader labour market strategy. The goal of this book is to provoke discussion and academic debate on the development of strategies to propel AI in the right direction and promote its use as a tool for positive economic change. It will be of interest to scholars and students of technology and innovation strategic management, AI policy and business ethics, as well as policymakers and practitioners involved in the implementation of AI strategy.
