Anne Guimard is the Founder and President of FINEO Investor Relations Advisors, a firm that has assisted more than 1,500 companies worldwide in Investor Relations training, executive coaching, and strategy formulation. Dubbed an “IR legend” by IR Magazine (now IR Impact), she brings more than 30 years of hands-on capital markets and shareholder engagement experience to her work.

Her career spans investment banking, Chief Investor Relations Officer, and financial controller roles at multi-listed conglomerates. Since founding FINEO in 1998, she has been a trusted strategic partner to both private and public companies, contributing to value creation, shareholder base diversification, and sustained reductions in the cost of capital. She has managed large international shareholder bases across multiple stock exchanges and played key roles in some of the world’s largest IPOs.

A Certified Financial Analyst and holder of a PhD in International Finance, Anne Guimard has also served on the Board of Directors of the National Investor Relations Institute, the world’s largest professional association for Investor Relations practitioners.

Now in its third edition, this authoritative practitioner-led guide to investor relations (IR) builds on the foundations laid in its 2008 debut and 2013 update, reflecting how the discipline of IR has evolved. While tools, technologies, and investor expectations have developed, the book remains anchored in its core conviction: Investor relations is a strategic management function that influences valuation, access to capital, and the cost of capital.

Combining financial analysis, strategic communication, and capital markets insight, the book provides structured frameworks and practical methodologies drawn from decades of international experience. It offers clear guidance for senior executives, investor relations professionals, financial analysts, and students seeking a rigorous understanding of how companies compete for capital in increasingly complex and scrutinised markets.

Unlike much of the existing literature, which often focuses on compliance or US-specific regulatory practice, this edition adopts a distinctly global perspective. It addresses the realities faced by both public and private companies seeking to attract long-term investors and diversify their shareholder base across borders, including from an emerging markets standpoint.

Whether refining an established IR function or building one from the ground up, readers will find actionable frameworks, real-world examples, and measurement approaches that position investor relations as an integrated driver of valuation discipline, long-term shareholder value creation, and sustained stakeholder trust.

Establishes IR as a global discipline and a core component of corporate strategy and capital allocation Examines structural shifts in the IR environment, including shareholder activism and digitisation Sets out best-practice operating models, governance structures, and performance metrics
