Beschreibung

This book builds on the editors’ earlier work and once again brings together women scholars of Turkish foreign policy from different parts of the world. The contributors take an interdisciplinary approach to foreign policy analysis that is increasingly necessary in a global environment shaped less by traditional statecraft and more by overlapping, non-traditional challenges.

The book places human well-being at the center of foreign policy analysis and highlights dynamics long treated as peripheral, including gender, the environment, civil society, and the transnational role of diasporas.

Through historically grounded and theoretically informed chapters, the authors examine how these concepts and themes have shaped Turkish foreign policy since the founding of the Republic of Türkiye. They explore how these ideas have been understood, how regional and international developments have influenced policy choices, and how they continue to shape Türkiye’s foreign policy today and into the future.

Accessible and timely, this volume will be of interest to scholars and students of Turkish studies, international relations, and foreign policy analysis, as well as readers seeking a deeper understanding of how global challenges are reshaping foreign policy in practice.

Binnur Özkeçeci-Taner is a Professor in Department of Political Science at Hamline University, USA.

Sinem Akgül-Açıkmeşe is a Professor in Department of International Relations at Kadir Has University, Turkey.
