The latest photo-book by artist Thomas Sing explores the connections between inside and outside, body and city, border and transgression in an exclusive, luxurious collector's edition. Liminal, Thomas Sing's third photographic monograph, is an open door into a fleeting world full of beauty and chaos. It invites us to delve into the poetry of the here and now, to pause and experience: the flow of water; the world pouring into the body; the body flowing into the world; the city as organism; the body as place; the multiplicity of being. Muse Teresa Del Sole takes the viewer on a journey of self-exploration, Charon and siren at the same time. She is the face of the book, but also the author of four of its texts. Photographed over two years and in three countries, liminal blurs all boundaries - including those of genre. Architecture meets classic nude, conceptual photography meets experimental techniques, analogue meets digital, image meets text in a unique work that owes much of its magic to Chiara Padovan's editorial composition and Christine Maier's eye for design. The book was supported by the Arno Buchegger Stiftung and the artists' association "Die Ecke", and partly financed through crowdfunding. Since 2017, Padovan & Sing GbR has successfully self-published all of Thomas Sing's photo-books. These have achieved international recognition and are represented at the most important photo-book festivals throughout Europe.

Thomas Sing wurde 1979 als einziges Kind einer Arbeiterfamilie geboren. Im Alter von 12 Jahren entdeckte er während eines Familienurlaubs zufällig eine billige Ausgabe von de Sade's Justine: das Ende der Kindheit und der Beginn einer lebenslangen Suche. Seither gilt sein Interesse den Rissen in der Oberfläche der Gesellschaft, den Brüchen im Alltäglichen, dem Schatten hinter unserem Schein. Er würdigt / begreift sie als etwas zutiefst Menschliches, als starke Triebkraft und als Möglichkeit der Begegnung. Nach dem Studium der Literatur, Philosophie und Psychologie entwickelte Thomas Sing seine künstlerische Position ausgehend von der Fotografie hin zur Ölmalerei. Seine Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit den menschlichen Bewältigungsmechanismen und Überlebensstrategien im Spannungsfeld zwischen dem Bedürfnis, sich selbst zusammenzuhalten, und dem Drang, über die eigenen Grenzen hinauszugehen. Sie fordern uns auf, einander im Spagat zwischen Gelassenheit und Zerrissenheit zu begegnen, mit der offenen Einladung, die Abgründe des anderen anzuerkennen. Wunden werden zu Türen, Verletzlichkeit zur unabdingbaren Voraussetzung für Intensität und Gemeinschaft.
