For a class of threats known as Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs), this thesis describes not only the attack process but also strategies and concepts that enable an organization to successfully defend itself against such attacks. Technical and organizational measures for setting up a highly secure administration environment are described and the effort required for these measures is compared with the protective effect that can be achieved and the possible risk of damage from an APT attack. Finally, an outlook on future authentication methods is given.
