There is a lot of misinformation
in the West about China’s Targeted Poverty Alleviation program. This book presents ten well documented examples of diverse programs in various regions, north to south, east to west involving a number of ethnic minorities being lifted out of poverty through very well-researched and planned programs based on the circumstances, desires and advantages of each group. Dr. Ross Colquhoun hopes it goes a long way to correcting these misconceptions and to the acknowledgement of the Poverty Alleviation in China as being the protection of the fundamental right of everyone to be free of hunger, to be literate and have the dignity of employment, a testament to the determination, administrative efficiency and benevolence of Chinese governance and as a modern-day wonder.
