Studies of aeolian sediments, both ancient and modern, haveexhibited a number of important conceptual advances in recentyears. In particular, there has been a move away from descriptionsof sediments, bedforms and sedimentary environments toward a newemphasis on the dynamics of aeolian depositional systems atdifferent temporal and spatial scales, and their response toexternal changes in sea levels, regional and global climates andtectonics. This Special Publication contains a selection of papersthat were presented at the Symposium "Aeolian Sediments: Ancientand Modern" held in 1990.
