Traditionally, engineers and scientists have been encouraged to develop their expertise in a specific area; hence very limited number may have the experience of dealing with the same principles in completely different systems. As such, indeed a very limited number of people happen to have experience in fouling of differing process equipment such as membranes and heat exchangers.
