A fundamental aspect of health and social care study is the idea that good practice is inclusive practice. Although the UK is a relatively tolerant society, and home to a diverse population, it is still characterised by inequality and exclusion; the challenge for current and future health and social care practitioners, therefore, is to develop an enquiring mind in relation to diversity in UK society and work to debunk the myths associated with ‘the others’.

With a strong practical approach, this thought-provoking book sees a group of experts with a wealth of academic and professional experience examine the legal, policy and theoretical contexts of diversity as they apply to some of the most excluded and disadvantaged individuals and groups in society – from young carers and children with autism spectrum disorders to Roma, people with dementia and trans and non-binary people.
