This symposium treats the physics of laser-materials interaction in extreme states of matter (high intensity, ultrashort pulse, and unusual wavelengths), unique diagnostics of these interactions (e.g., ultrafast dynamic ellipsometry), and new laser systems to produce them, and unusual applications such as creating nanoaquariums with femtosecond lasers and laser orbital debris removal.
