This introduction to laser physics and molecular nonlinear optics is divided into three parts: Part 1 provides a review of quantum mechanics, tensor analysis and statistical physics needed for an understanding of optical properties of matter. Part 2 treats optical sources, describes the laser and its operation and the properties of waves. Finally part 3 explains how lasers interact with matter.
