Disruptive and aggressive behaviour in children causes significantdistress to everyone involved. Tradition interventions tend tofocus on changing the disruptive behaviour itself, but researchshows that it is important to also focus on the underlying anxiety, anger and vulnerability that may have contributed to thechild's conduct. In this innovative book, Hermione Roffintroduces Reflective Interpersonal Therapy for Children andParents (RICAP), a new intervention that looks at the processesunderpinning disruptive and aggressive behaviour problems. RICAPwas developed specifically to meet the needs of children and theirfamilies, and offers a new way to think about and tackle conductdisorders. The intervention explores the relationship betweenanxiety and anger, the dynamics of threat and fear, and thebehavioural interactions within a prime relationship. Taking apractitioner-oriented approach, Roff introduces the theoryunderpinning RICAP, the evidence base for the approach and how itcan be put to work in clinical practice.
