This volume discusses how fire and climate change interact to influence carbon cycling in North American Boreal Forests, regions dramatically affected by global warming. The first section outlines the information needed to understand fire's effects on the ecology of boreal forests and its influence on global climate change issues. Following chapters discuss the role of fire in the forest ecology, present data sets on fire and carbon, and discuss the use of satellite imagery and approaches to modeling the relevant processes. Research in the Eurasian and Russian boreal regions are also included.
